"The Cause of Great Sorrow," Alma 31:1-5

Alma 31:1-5

I am finding a great personal parallel between the thoughts of Alma toward the Zoramites (who once were Nephites) and my own personal family dynamic with my older children (who once also were active in Church activities). This loss of my children from church activity has been the source of sorrow for me.

Verse 5 is a powerful reminder of priorities and purpose. "The preaching of the word had a great tendency to lead the people to do that which was just..."

Today's Action Items:
  1. Allow myself to feel sorrow for the loss of my children.
  2. Understand that I can do something to change my situation. 
  3. Pray for power to know what to do next.

"The State of the Soul Between Death and the Resurrection," Alma 40:11-14

Alma 40:11-14 Deep consideration of the realities articulated in these verses has brought a very strong spiritual confirmation to me this morning. This doctrine is familiar to me, both because of the numerous times that I have studied these verses before, but also because of the eternal realities that cause my soul to resonate with the Spirit of the Lord. Verse 11 , which I learned and memorized as a youth, especially rings deep and true. We are taken back to God after this amazing and terrible* mortal experience.
